How the panel is paid, and what it can do

The editorial process in four steps
Draft from primary sources
Writers work from NIH, NCCIH, MedlinePlus, NIDDK, university nutrition departments and ingredient level evidence summaries. Manufacturer material is used only for product facts such as serving size and ingredient names.
Source check
Every factual claim gets a link. Anything we cannot source is cut rather than softened with a vague qualifier.
Panel review
An advisor with the relevant background reads the page and marks up anything that overstates, understates or misses a safety point. The review date under the headline is the date that happened.
Scheduled re-check
Editorial pages are re-read at least twice a year, or immediately if a source updates its guidance.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, tell us at [email protected]. Factual errors are corrected in place with a dated note at the foot of the page, and we do not quietly edit and pretend the original never existed. Reader corrections have changed three pages on this domain since launch, which is three more than most sites in this category will admit to.
